About Us "The Best Is Yet To Come"

Alex AlexanderBorn Elmer Alex Alexander January 1930, in Hopkinsville, Kentucky. His Father died when he was a young man. His mother was a Missionary; she subsequently remarried an Elder in the Church Of God In Christ. He learned the power of prayer and faith at an early age.

He was as one might say a typical teen, his early training sustained him during this growing exploratory stage in his life--as he remained connected to the Church. He sang in quartets and taught himself to play the guitar as well as the piano.

He preached his first sermon at Portland Street Church Of God In Christ 30years ago. Pastor Alex and family moved to Minneapolis in 1967.

They united with Grace Temple Church of God In Christ under Elder S. H. Overton who later became Bishop over all the COGIC in Minnesota. While there, he soon became the Community Outreach Worker. In this position, his duties included attending many meetings, it was here he became involved with the Interdenominational Ministerial Alliance and served a year as it's president.

Pastor Alexander has conducted revivals extensively throughout the south and the Midwest. He is a powerful prolific speaker that "tells it like it is."

He organized the United Deliverance Temple on April 7, 1977, sharing facilities with Our Savior Lutheran Church. His heart was in Evangelism, but commanding the pastoralship of God's people has set preeminence in his life. He loves the people that God has entrusted in his care. He is a forceful and powerful proclaimed of God's truths and is not ashamed to share the Good News of Christ wherever he goes.

He attended Antioch College under the late Dr. Gwyn-Jones-Davis-Pyle. He has also attended C. H. Mason School in Chicago Heights. Additionally, he did intensive study under the tutelage of Bishop Bennie Goodwin and Elder B. C. Cole of Illinois.

His early ministry was street ministry. He frequented places where addicts, gangs and the so-called "militants" hung out. He is today, still known to the younger generation who have now become adults from this ministering field as "The Rev."

This visionary's vision is to see UDT expand to the end of the block from it's present site. He would like to one day have a large beautiful church where people can come in any condition to be healed and made whole. He believes and teaches that nothing is too great for the Almighty God. You must believe, have faith, and act on that faith. May the Holy Spirit continue to dwell within our hearts and minds daily that during our sojourn here, we might be Living Lights for all to see and sense His everlasting love.

He is married to Ruby and they have 5 children: Michael, Barton, Bretta, Byron, and Barry along with three Godchildren: Milton, Judi and Charlene, plus 41 grandchildren.
